Summer Event

The REALISE group took part in Archway's Summer Event this year providing a creative arts activity for the clients who came to enjoy the bbq, table top sale, henna and spray tattoos. The theme for the artswork was to create a response to the title 'Best of Multicultural Britain' and teh group thought of various prompts such as food, music and culture to get people thinking.

Bolton Abbey

Overview...

Trips Galore

So it has only been nine days since my last post but MAN ALIVE have we packed things in here at REALISE H.Q.

We completed our 'Me But Different' photography project and there were some interesting results as you can see from my previous photo post!!! We became vets, searched for our family history and looked into the future in a series of exciting photographic prints.

Next we had a group trip to Tropical World, which was great for spotting Tropical Flowers, Parrots, Lizards and Meerkats but really, really hot! So hot in fact we had to visit the cafe after to complete our worksheets and have a cooling ice cream! Phew!!!

From this visit we produced some great pair and group work by sharing photographs with the group and manipulating them in a variety of ways. We worked on our sharing, presentation, cooperation, communication and team work skills and that's without considering the artistic side of things!

And now I am writing this post after a MARVELOUS day out at Bolton Abbey. We were joined by the Archway ESOL group for a picnic, games session and walk around the ruins of Bolton Abbey. We took pictures of the theme "A View Through..."

Trips

This week the group discussion was used to talk about potential trips that they might like to make as part of the REALISE programme .  Lots of different options were discussed both locally and across the county.

The group had two clear favourite choices though which were Tropical World and The National Railway Museum.

First up will be Tropical World, so watch this space!

Friends made, hopefully to be kept!

Celebration Event

On the final day we held a celebration event and lots of important people came to see the achievements of the REALISE group and to celebrate the completion of the programme with the participants. Here are a few images from the event.

Ta-da! The REALISE Group of 2012! (Well most of them anyway!!!)

ArtsAward Part 4

So much hard work and effort went into the last part of the Bronze ArtsAward, sharing a skill with others. Each young person prepared an Arts skill to share with a number of others in the group. Arts skills were varied and ranged from hair design to portrait drawing, what a talented group! Here are just a few images that document the prep stages.

Progression

Last week we started discussing what might come next for everyone after the REALISE programme. We had a really interesting visit by Katy from Leeds City College. Katy was full of information about the wide range of courses that Leeds City College are offering including Hair & Beauty, Art & Design and Health & Social Care. She also told the group about the really exciting Teen Programme that is run in association with the Princes Trust.

Our weeks square considered where we might be in the future, perhaps 6 months, 3 years or even a decade into the future. Where might you be and what might you be doing?

Bag Me One of Those

Just two GREAT examples from our groups Bag Me One of Those project, which was completed in just shy of TWO hours, isn't that amazing!

The rules are:

1. You're not allowed to say no, everyone does the same activities, even if you find them really hard.
2. You have a go at EVERY activity set.
3. Try to work within the time limits set.
4. Only make positive comments about other's work.

And what a great job our REALISE participants did, some fantastic self portraits from memory along with some kind adjectives, strong literacy work and an all round positive group vibe!

Nice one gang, see you later on for our next installment!
